(a.k.a. how to lose weight without dieting)

When I say “diet,” I mean a temporary change in one’s diet that is designed to help you lose weight.

The key word here is temporary.

If you change the way you eat temporarily, you are going to have a problem when the diet is over.

Ninety percent of the people who go on a diet re-gain the weight they lost during the diet. To make matters worse, they also usually gain back more than they lost.

Simply put, diets are not an effective way to lose weight and keep it off.

This is because diets cause your body to adjust to having fewer calories, and when the diet is over and you go back to a normal amount of calories, your body sees those calories as unnecessary and stores them as fat.

This is why I am anti-diet.

Many people have asked how you can lose weight without dieting, so I’ve outlined the seven steps for losing weight in a slow, healthy way. Click on the links below for more info.

1) Like yourself

2) Indulge from time to time

3) Exercise as much as possible. Or as I call it: play more and play often

4a) Avoid processed foods

and

4b) Understand why it’s hard to avoid them, so you can avoid them even more

5) Cook at home

6) Eat all day long

7) Get more sleep

You may also want to read my manifesto and my post about how I define the word diet to get some understanding of what this blog is all about. Know that though this approach will work in the long run, it is not about quick results as much as lasting ones.

When I started my website, hautecurvywoman.com, I wanted it to have the same mindset as yours. To feel good within your own body and to not get tied into the diet mindset, which has a tendency to make people gain weight.

Unfortunately, after a doctor’s appointment, I realized that my body was in trouble. High cholesterol, high blood pressure, on and on. I have no choice but to make severe changes in my body, regardless of how confident I feel as a plus-sized woman.

I’m glad you’re doing what you need to do to be healthy, Tovah. As it says in the tagline under the logo, I Will Not Diet is a site the promotes body acceptance and healthy living while also rejecting dieting since it leads to long-term weight gain 90% of the time. I do not encourage people to engage in behavior that results in high cholesterol, high blood pressure, or other health problems. However, rather than dieting to combat those problems, I recommend following the steps outlined in the “healthy living” section of this site, especially the part about daily exercise. This is how I live, and I am healthy. (I have low blood pressure, low cholesterol, and a low resting heart rate.) Also, please know that as you become more healthy, you may not lose (or keep off) weight. Being healthy is not necessarily the same as being thin, which is what this website is about.
